Fossil Butte National Monument is very interesting and very cool. We hade previously toured but the visitor center was closed. These pictures are frm the visitor center. The fossils are from Fish Lake, an ancient lake of 50 million years ago. There are fossils of fish, turtles, crocodiles and birds. There are also a few mammals, including a type of hippopotamus and a type of otter. There is coprolite which proved the existence of fish in the deeper water of the lake.
