Florence Bank: Wildcat Bank in Florence

Florence Bank was constructd in 1856 after the bank was charted by Nebraska Territory.  It included a steel lined vault with the walls of the safe being three feet thick.  The family that ran the bank lived upstairs.  This bank was a wildcat bank and was injured by the financial crisis of 1857 and finally closed in 1859.  Subsequently used for many businesses, including another bank.

The bank now serves as a museum for Florence.  It has Native American items, lots of hats and baby dolls and dresses.

This plaque mentions Brigham Young, but no clue as to what it refers.
